SRON’s mission is to bring about breakthroughs in international space research, focusing on space science, key-technology research, and space-qualified instrument development.
Since 1974, the Netherlands has contributed to several X-ray observatories in Space, like ANS, BeppoSAX, XMM-Newton, Hitomi and XRISM. This talk, given by Martin Grim, will give a quick overview of those observatories with focus on the hardware contributions, but the main scientific results be given also. The future of X-ray observatories and “what skill set does the space industry needs for the future” will be discussed also.
