Merten Tijsma

Background

Hey! I’m Merten Tijsma, your Commissioner of Internal Affairs for Artemis III. Currently, I’m in my first year of the Space Engineering master, having previously completed my BSc in Maritime Engineering. Outside of academics, I enjoy my time as a sailing and windsurf instructor and have a general love for sports.
During my time at Artemis, I’ll be here to provide and improve communication between staff and students and organize internal events. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out! I’m excited about contributing to Artemis’ growth as a genuine Space Master Society!

Provide educational information

One of the goals is to make the Artemis website a source of information regarding the Space master track.

Polling of current curriculum and improvements

The master was refreshed in academic year 2022-2023. There are quite some changes to courses. While the VSV is reponsible for sending out polls regarding courses, it is also useful to obtain information about how our students would see the curriculum filled. What are they missing and what is redundant?

Smoother communication

Communication is very important, especially regarding study related changes. Through an improved communication line, it will be easier to implement changes and gaining feedback from both students and staff about these changes. Besides that, vacancies, for example about small side projects or thesis projects, can also be communicated to reach a broader audience to join the project.
